The sleep training you described sounds completely traumatic to a newborn
Pleasee help me!
My newborn won’t sleep during the day
I try so hard to get her to nap when I notice a yawn but it’s no use she won’t and if I can get her down it last 20-30 minutes
I’m so at a loss and am desperate.
She is a wonderful night time sleeper
But wakes up at 5 and won’t take another sleep no matter how hard I try
My baby is 4 months and is probably the worst napper ever. Not only does she not sleep until it’s 7pm and has an absolute meltdown because she’s exhausted but she also demands to never be put down throughout the day. Life is currently unlivable and difficult.
Is there a way to do this without the cry it out method?
LOL you nailed it. We have a pack and play in our living room, baby has never had a full nap in it😂😂
My baby usually refuses to sleep after the wake window is over…she is only 10 weeks old and she just refuses to sleep most of the day.The night sleep is usually ok
My one month old has a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep during the daytime. I try to get her to sleep but wake up after a few minutes. I even hold her so I don't wake her up, but she still walks up shortly. I give her colief drops since she has a lot of gas. She drinks BreastMilk (pump) and formula when I can't pump. I don't know what to do. She's swaddled. She doesn't poop every day only once a week, and then it's a lot and pasty. Her pediatrician told us to give her prune juice every other day for a week. Don't know if it works or gives more gas. I didn't have these problems with the other two babies. And she has baby acne.
I'm separated, my son isn't used to the room, how do I help him feel comfortable enough in the room?
My baby is 3 months this sleep 🎉
I understand that it’s important for my baby to nap during the day so that he is not overtired at night… he’s 6 months so 3 naps a day. He can fall asleep on his own in his crib but not after crying for awhile. Sometimes it’s 10 mins, sometimes 30 and unfortunately sometimes an hour and a half. At that point is it more important for him to sleep than to sleep in his crib? Or is it more important for him to learn to sleep independently in his crib for the nap? Cuz that just won’t happen sometimes and after crying for an hour it throws off the whole day now. So do I assist with the nap if it’s just not happening on his own? I’m sleep training. Just want to know what’s more important. Anyone?
I do everything that videos and theories advise. My 8 month old is a good night sleeper but naps are so crappy, she naps 15 minutes and then she wakes up in distress and is not able to go back to sleep for a long time, finally she falls asleep when is ready for her awake time 😢. I’m so discouraged.
Sir how to give longer naps to my 2 months old child…? It's difficult for me to let him sleep during day
So what do you do if you follow all this and your baby doesn't sleep the entire day? Mine has been awake 12 hours everyday for the last 5 days. I'm not seeing any difference and it's affecting his eating. He's so stressed he is barely eating. He'll sleep at night fine, but he's awake all day.
How did this go with your other children ❤
Thank you guys for the instruction videos. Didle's is doing great. 🇺🇲
Routine, En urnment
Routine, Environment (key) 🔐
5, 10, 15 minute check-ins, 15 thereafter, subsequent until 60 full rotation. 5, 6 check-ins
5+10+15+15+15=60
I spy a UP shirt!
Babies cannot self soothe. There are proven studies that it’s not healthy for babies to be left one and crying for 10 mins!!! The baby is learning that the parent is not meeting their needs it increases their stress hormones /cortisol PLUS it’s so cruel to let your baby cry.
I’m just so nervous to put him in the crib during the day – he’s 4 months and we’re still doing contact naps 😅
What if the baby isn't just crying but screaming? He starts crying as soon as we bend over the crib. Whimpering and whining is fine with us, but I don't want my baby to scream hysterically for an hour. Once he's screaming, he can't be soothed unless we pick him up.
Drowsy but awake is such a scamnmm lol
Question: My daughter tends to become completely hysterical within 3 minutes of not being approached and at that point, she's unable to calm down for a long while. Do you recommend shortening the waiting period then? And how do I expand the waiting period from say 3 to 6 minutes so she won't be too hysterical to attempt falling asleep on her own?
My baby is 10 weeks old and has begun to sleep 8-10 hours straight during the night. I didn’t do sleep training. I just concentrated in his needs which are, wait for him to wake up don’t wake him up, feed as much as he wants as eventually he will increase the feeding and that help with longer sleeps, rocking, swaddle, rain white noise and then completely silence during the night, be very calm during the night feeds ( not hard as I was sleepy myself), when its day time feed him in another area different to his room where sun light can come in, at night use only red light while feeding, dont burp at night if he doesn’t want to and if you do be very gentle to try to keep him half asleep, I did change his nappies but you don’t need to as he may wake up, play and interact with them after day feeds only,
he sleeps in his own crib. This is for night time sleeps, my day naps are currently not very good (hard to keep him asleep) but I prefer he sleeps during the night.
how am i supposed to hear my baby cry for 10 minutes? i am always fascinated when i hear about those techniques… 10 and 15 minutes are too much guys
How do you feel about napping and feedings and that relationship? I know they say to not to feed babies before they sleep, but I’m nursing my almost 4 month old son and he always gets sleepy after eating.
Thank you ❤❤❤❤
Dr. B's, Is this something that we can apply strictly for naps if the child has no problems with night sleep? Or do they need to be fully night sleep trained first? Worried about affecting their night sleep since that's not an issue. She just won't nap if it's not a "contact nap" anymore, which is frustrating. 7 months old. Ty!
Thank you both so much! Hearing this was SO refreshing- we have a 5 month old, first time parents, and are definitely going through this! I was curious because our son would sleep only for 20-40mins in the afternoon so learning to try again at the next wake window was so helpful!
These videos are long winded out for a busy parent.
Break it down fast like a wellness visit
Or my baby's wake window during the day, 6-8 hours. She just, won't, sleep. Is this a disorder?
Is it me that any one of the methods will not work if I left him crying he will not self sooth he just start to cry for hours
Thank you so much for sharing this! 🎉 your videos are always so helpful and informative
My baby is 5 month old and just refuses to sleep during the day. The 1st nap goes down well, the 2nd and 3 rd nap just don't happen. We follow wake windows and sometimes she stays up for 4 hours, the minute her body touches the crib she starts crying . The room is dark with good temperature. What can I do to fix this ?
You guys are a lifesaver. My baby would never nap throughout the day at the ripe age of 4 months old. He stopped napping. He was starting to develop bags under his eyes, Then, i followed your advice and he fell asleep in 8 minutes. I feel hope again!!
Ok please clarify; baby woke up at 20-25 minutes CRYING. You said to let them lay in their crib for another 20ish. Do you mean even if they are crying? You didn’t specify. You just said if baby wakes up at that mark, let them hang there. Thanks!
can this be done with a 7 week old?
Should we start teaching baby how to sleep on their own with daytime Nap first and move onto teaching them how to sleep on their own at night time? My baby is 8 months old and we still rock and give him a bottle to fall asleep at night and nap time. Something needs to be done! 🙁
We did sleep training for night time and it was successful. We saw improvement every night and by Day 7 she went to sleep on her own without any crying. However, the naps are really difficult. I’m on Day 3 for naps and wondering when does it typically start getting better? She takes 3 naps a day and I’ve had to abandon ship for all her naps since starting.
Thank you!
So how did you get your daughter used to not using a swaddle? In the same boat here, and would love to know!
Thank you! As a home daycare provider you have given me good insight to wake windows and the amount of time to check on my daycare babies. My job is to make sure my babies are well rested and able to enjoy their families when they go home without messing up the bedtime. It's easier said than done but I've learned much from you.
what if they wake and are crying after a 35 min nap? YOu mentioned that your daughter would wake early and you let her stay in there for another 20 min but was she crying? Would you suggest letting them cry for that 5-10-15 min intervals. Or end the nap?
My daughter had a VERY hard time learning how to sleep. What helped was… re ognizi g when she was just fussing in her sleep, and time. She went from IMPOSSIBLE to put down for a nap during the day (only slept with my boob, or if I carried her in a carrier – hated strollers). With time, she woke less and less during thw night, and it was her dad taking over for mw at night, so she got no boobie then. Now (2.5 y/o) she fusses once between 1-2 AM, but then falls asleep again and sleeps until about 7:30–7:50. Sleep training did absolutely NOT work with her
I was wondering 🤔 if one has the same environment (white noise, dark room etc) for nap times, doesn't that condition them to only be able to sleep nap times in the same conditions? What will happen if we can't be home for a nap, will my little one still be able to fall asleep if the conditions aren't the same?
Hi guys. Thanks again for a helpful and informative video. So, I have a baby who just turned 1. And I guess I’ve fallen into the bad habit of giving her a small bottle- 4 to 5 ozs of whole milk (previously formula) to help her get to sleep. She’s come to expect this for naps and night time. Now her pediatrician recommends I cut back her milk a bit. She generally sleeps through the night, and takes 1 – 2 naps per day. Any tips for getting her to sleep without the bottle?
Is there a way to train them to nap for longer? Babe only wants to nap 30-45min at a time 3-4x a day with 2h wake windows (5 months old)
Thank you for being so real and honest about how hard naps can be ❤
How did you manage to transition out of the swaddle?
So do the nighttime and nap training at the same time? I started nighttime training last night and attempted nap training today and it was a disaster
