Frozen Flower Eggs | Nanny Anita

Blogger / 13 April, 2026 / Nanny Anita

I know I have said it before and I am sure I will say it again, but those plastic Easter eggs seem to multiply.  I now have 100s of the things and not wanting to just put them away until next year I have been using them to make frozen flower eggs.

Make sure you follow my sensory board on Pinterest for more ideas.  Don’t forget to save the pin for later.

To make your own frozen flower eggs you will need:

  • Plastic eggs
  • Duct tape
  • Flowers
  • Sensory tray
  • Bowls
  • Pipettes

This is only really going to work if your plastic eggs have holes in them.  Start with putting it on the bottom holes and leave the top ones empty, you’ll need to fill them up through the holes at the top.  Make sure that you really press the tape down securely to prevent any leakage.

Put your flowers into the eggs and close them up.

Carefully fill them with water through the holes on the top and then cover the holes with duct tape.

I had a handy plastic egg carton that I could put them in to keep them upright while I put them in the freezer.  I kept them in the freezer for a day before using them.

To take the frozen eggs out of the plastic containers simply run them under some warm water for a few seconds and then they easily pop out.

Once they were out, I added them to our sensory tray with some bowls of warm water and different pipettes.

NB had a ball playing with them.  It kept her fully engaged for an hour before she decided that she was feeling cold after getting herself completely wet.

If you enjoyed these frozen flower eggs, be sure to check out my ice rink for Lego figures and soap bubble painting.
