I only change before feeding and always put bum cream on my 4 week old.
My 2nd boy, once we change his cloth diaper, decides to poop as soon as his bum land on the new and clean cloth diaper.😂

My son also loves to pee when his diaper is off. That's why I started
shortly after birth with elimination communication with diapers as a back-up and often hold him out. Another reason was the poop explosion…. It's so much cooler if you don't have to change clothes at all etc. 😉
He likes it, the signals become clearer over time and we save more and more diapers. The practice can be done full-time, part-time, or just occasionally.

How do I know if they pooped or not at night if not by actually opening the diaper? (At which point why not change it anyway). Thanks!
Our newborn hates being undressed, so he cries for every diaper change and clothes change, but when his body hit the bathwater, he was so peaceful and calm, it was awesome. I think he gets cold easily.
The urine during change happens with my baby girl, I had two boys first, never had the issue.

My daughter had the same urinating without diaper issue. Always prepare a diaper and swap the old to the new as fast as you can. You don't need to close it, just make sure it's already set under the baby for quick cover and cover of most of the product.
I want to be a baby girl because I have autism. I was born a boy but wearing diapers helps me turn into a baby girl.

My 4 week old will gladly sleep covered in her own muck. It's the hunger that wakes her and thus me. Do the feedings become less frequent too, or just the emptying of the bowels?

Its not just boys that pee when you take their nappie off. Its girls too. As soon as air hits them its wee time. Difference being rather than the wee hitting you onnthe face woth a boy it runs all down their back. So make sure youve got a fresh change of clothes ready and a cloth for the changing mat.
