Activities & Days Out / 7 July, 2026 / Ellie Thompson
If you’re looking for an unforgettable family day out this weekend, Henley Festival’s Playdate deserves a spot at the top of your list.
Taking place on Sunday, 12 July, Playdate transforms the iconic riverside festival into a magical playground designed especially for families. With live entertainment, hands-on activities, music, comedy and creative experiences, it’s the perfect introduction to one of the UK’s most unique festivals.
While Henley Festival is famous as the UK’s only black-tie music and arts festival, Sunday morning is dedicated entirely to families.
From 10am until 1.30pm, the festival site comes alive with children’s entertainers, live performances, face painting and interactive activities. The event is suitable for all ages, with many of the performances designed for children aged 3 to 12 years. Best of all, there’s no dress code, so families can simply turn up ready to have fun. Free parking is also available between 9.30am and 2pm.
Expect Music, Laughter and Plenty of Entertainment
This year’s Playdate line-up is packed with family favourites, including MC Grammar, Tweedy’s Massive Solo Show, Exciting Science, The Giant Balloon Show, and Pirate Party with Gem from Swashbuckle. Alongside the live shows, children can enjoy circus skills, storytelling, arts and crafts, face painting and plenty of interactive entertainment throughout the morning.

Stay for the Festival Atmosphere
If you’re visiting Henley Festival for the first time, Playdate offers a wonderful opportunity to experience its famous riverside setting.
Set on the banks of the River Thames, the festival is known for its spectacular floating stage, contemporary art installations, delicious food and beautiful surroundings. It’s easy to see why it has become one of the highlights of the British summer calendar.
Looking for a Grown-Up Night Out?
Once the little ones have had their turn, Henley Festival continues throughout the week with an incredible programme of music, comedy, art and dining.
The 2026 line-up includes Boy George & Culture Club, Sugababes, Lulu, Alex James’ Britpop Classical, Ezra Collective, Jo Whiley’s 90s Anthems, Laura Mvula with the Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Orchestra, and The Bootleg Beatles, making it one of the most exciting festival programmes of the summer.
Whether you’re introducing your children to their first festival or looking for a memorable family day out during the summer holidays, Henley Festival’s Playdate offers the perfect mix of entertainment, creativity and riverside charm.
